This unit plan covers the sports and entertainment marketing event triangle for grades 7-12. The unit has students gain a greater understanding of the "event" component of the Event Triangle and recognize significant sponsorship goals and various ways that fans can be part of an audience. Students will identify and define the "event triangle" and identify its various components (event, sponsor, and fan) and their interrelatedness. Along with discussing, researching, and reviewing the means of evaluating an event, how current technology and social media impact the event component of the Event Triangle. Students will gain a greater understanding of the sponsor and fan component of the Event Triangle. They will be discussing sports teams and organizations' sponsorship, the sports and entertainment sponsorship levels, and how sponsorships invest in sports teams and entertainment.
This unit is infused with technology, real-world application and is designed to be engaging and rigorous. It is the perfect unit for any business class.
This unit plan is conducted through lectures, engaging activities, group-paced instruction, and discussion. Assignments range from a mix of daily assignments, time, projects graded on effort/attempt, unit tests, and a project graded on overall appearance and completion of given requirements.
